Statement

Maximo Ruiz’s work emerges from observation, reflection, and a conscious position toward reality.

It does not always seek to describe the world or embellish it. Often, it aims to point at it, question it, challenge it — pausing the gaze on moments, scenes, spaces, and situations that condense tensions, traces of time, contradictions, or fragile balances.

Each artwork is the result of a deliberate decision within a specific context. A framing. A boundary. A question. A way of saying this and not something else.

His production is organized as unique works or limited editions, conceived as original and unrepeatable pieces in which the image functions more as a trigger for thought than as a closed representation.

The works do not propose definitive answers. Instead, they open a space for observation, invite a pause, and enable a sensory experience between the image and the viewer.

My work begins with observation and with the need to take a position toward reality.

I primarily use photography as an expressive medium, without limiting myself to a single mode of production.

"On encountering the artwork"

Visitors to this website are regarded as “collectors”, whether or not they already possess a collection.

The act of contemplating an artwork, pausing before it, and establishing a personal relationship with it already implies a form of engagement and commitment to the work.

All the artworks presented here are treated with the same care and respect, understanding that the encounter between the artwork and the person who chooses it is an essential part of its journey.

This space proposes a direct, transparent, and thoughtful relationship between the artwork and those who approach it.

Within this framework, it is an honor to welcome you to this space, dear collectors”.
