The connection I perceive between the wave striking the cliff and the embracing gesture created as the water wraps around its profile was what inspired me to capture this image.
In that fraction of a second, water and land seem to merge in an intimate and powerful dance.
Then each continues its course: the sea returns to the sea, and the land remains, marking the limit of how far the advance can go.
“The hug” is part of the “Waves” collection, a group of 12 works that seek to capture different moments, thoughts, and sensations arising from the simple observation of moving water — something that for many may appear to be nothing more than a repeated gesture of nature.
